Choosing Your Swiss Ball
So who really sells the sturdiest Swiss balls? As an instructor, I opt for the companies that specifically sell to gyms, like SPRI and Thera-Band, because I know they are intended for excessive use, and they really do not cost more than the balls sold in stores. So if you still do not own your personal Swiss ball, buy one! It is truly the one piece of equipment you need for your “home gym.”
The most important thing is that your ball is inflated properly and is the appropriate height for your body. Sit on the ball to ensure that it feels comfortable on your knees. Your thighs should be parallel to the floor or slightly higher. Generally, 55 cm balls work well for most people. If you are very tall or very short, you will want a different-sized ball.
